Friday Night Quick Pics

Just some pics from hanging out in the backyard at sundown. Note the tiny green spider on the sunflower. To see larger versions of the images, click on them. The bananas are also growing in our backyard.

And now, one of the squirrels that frequent our feeders - this one LOVES peanut butter!

Our cat Buster loves to eat grass. He craves it. Here he is looking longingly through the screen waiting for me to stop taking pictures and let him out. He never runs, if a loud noise occurs while he is out in his grassy spot, he bolts for the house and climbs the screen door in panic. He is definitely NOT lion hearted, but he is our baby, not an outdoor cat at all, except for these little 2 minute excursions to one particular spot daily. The birds and squirrels ignore him because all he wants to do is eat a few blades of grass and head indoors again to safety. Smart cat.

Last but not least, my Cockatoo, Beasley. He is outside briefly also, perched on a lawn chair, eating peanuts.

I love your photos and
I want a banana tree! I'm growing more things this year than last year but am still a new gardner.

I'm not even sure when to pick the peppers!

I don't know if those bananas are edible or just ornamental. My husband pulled one off a few weeks ago and tried it - said it tasted totally not ripe. So, we'll see as time goes on. I also am a beginning gardener - luckily, Florida is very forgiving - it's hard to kill things here....

Those bananas don't look ripe, but I don't see why they won't get ripe! I have never heard of an ornamental banana?

I'm trying to grow what we will eat. I'm in Florida, too, so I hope to have some good luck -
Send any useful gardening information my way, please!

I'm going to keep my eye on them to see what happens. The only gardening I've done is to encourage birds and butterflies. I tried a home garden once - planting begins for that in October down here in South Florida - I got a few broccoli and a couple of tomatoes - but, on the whole, not much success. I didn't put too much into it either - I could have done much better if I had paid more attention to the garden.....

Great pictures. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. Where in Florida are you? We lived in the Daytona and then Deland area for about 12 years.

I live in the Ft. Lauderdale area -and my husband and I have been trying to leave for years. We probably couldn't see our house now if we gave it away.....

Our cat Jybow acts the same with loud noises. Even if the noise is outside he jumps under the covers of any bed and remains a lump there for hours until we come to coax her out.
My husband is mowing the yard right now, so she wanted inside.

We'll have to try the peanut butter for our squirrels. The corn on the cob is getting harder to find for them anyway. We gave them unsalted unshelled peanuts, but they just left them there and ate the shelled corn instead. Maybe they'll go for peanut butter instead. Thanks for the suggestion.

Come back to visit. I'm glad that you have bees...it's comforting to know that someone has seen a bee because there just aren't any in our area.
