Truly old movies. It niggles me when I say that I love old movies and the other person responds that they love movies from the 90s. (1990s, not 1890s)

Several years ago, the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth featured a Sunday afternoon series of silent films, complete with piano accompaniment. Once they showed "Greed", which was marvelous; another day was snippets of the oldest bits of film they could find. Some no longer than a few seconds. It was extremely interesting.

Since I've never seen The Thief of Bagdad, I'll look for it and my husband and I will make an evening of it.

Very nice post!Carlahttp://carlahoag.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1723342246366700898.post-16327265598821914162019-03-25T19:37:51.738-04:002019-03-25T19:37:51.738-04:00I am reading through your blog posts, and I just h...I am reading through your blog posts, and I just have to say that we are neighbors. I live in Boise! I have lived in the Treasure Valley for nearly 19 years, in Meridian, Nampa, and Boise. Am currently in Boise. When we first moved here, I greatly struggled with SAD. We had come from Florida, and I greatly missed the sunshine and blue skies during the winter. Eventually, I adjusted, though, and I love it here. I hope you are settling in well. Mostly in Nampa. Hubby lived there about 19 years of his life. It has changed a great deal over the years. And we have lived in 5 other states as well, both on the West Coast and the East Coast. My most wonderful year of life was spent in Coeur d'Alene though that was decades ago and many people have moved there now. Some of the hardest times of my life were spent in Nampa...which was never much like wonderful Cd'A...so it likely depends upon what town you end up in as to how well you like it. The coldest winter ever for me was in Nampa...it was about 35 below in winter that year with the wind chill. THAT was miserable. We have no desire to live in Idaho again, unless maybe in the north...but the cold can be brutal up there too...and with age, that can be hard! I wish you the best!!
ElizabethAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1723342246366700898.post-83474144668618653212017-11-27T11:50:29.744-05:002017-11-27T11:50:29.744-05:00Please communicate through my email - susan.humest...Please communicate through my email - susan.humeston@gmail.com so that we can give more information.Susan Humestonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14374042568634619411noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1723342246366700898.post-48048965686409050622017-11-27T10:17:59.808-05:002017-11-27T10:17:59.808-05:00We would love to purchase it from you. I was so thrilled to do it and surprisingly not very scared. We practiced for so long and after all, you cannot see the audience at all - the bright lights are in your face so for all you know you are just with your castmates for the umtyninth time. There was only one time when I was scared for a moment. It happened when I was singing 'you're a queer one , , , 'and my mind just went blank. For a moment I could not remember the words. The music played on but I didn't continue singing. Nancy had been facing away from me and I saw her back immediately stiffen and she turned around to try and queue me AND Sr Michel was waiving her arms like a banshee in the wings trying to give me the song line but I recovered and no one except me, Nancy and Sr Michel knew anything different. It was a really fun time and I would't have missed it for the world . . .Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12173942702963594544noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1723342246366700898.post-51442294841723637952017-02-09T13:38:05.935-05:002017-02-09T13:38:05.935-05:00HA! I remember walking to high school, singing the songs, especially 'If I Loved You,' under my breath. I even sang that song at a tryout for the school play as a junior (The Music Man. I got a part as a towns-person, which is what I wanted.)

My very, very favorite scene is the daughter's dance sequences near the beach. I must have watched that a hundred times over the years. Also love the graduation scene at the end where, forty-three years later, I still cry. Oh my. The beauty, the sentiment....

How fun to find another huge fan and thanks so much for sharing your memories with me of Carousel this morning! But I've got a couple of theories. First of all, as to why the family did not keep the painting, it sold for 3 million dollars! Kind of hard to have that kind of money hanging on your wall no matter how much you might have liked to have kept it. Secondly, as to why the apartment was left untouched, could it be that when the granddaughter fled the Germans, she chose to re- invent herself? After all, she was the granddaughter of a prostitute, a high class one, but still on the fringes of polite society. And another theory as to why the granddaughter never came back, it would have a bittersweet journey at best. The Paris she had loved was forever changed by the war, and she probably had heard of the looting of apartments by the Nazi's. She may have convinced herself that her apartment also would be in shambles and there would no reason to return. Cannot wait to find out more on the true story so we don't have to continue speculating!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1723342246366700898.post-15660109823872835602015-08-11T20:37:38.505-04:002015-08-11T20:37:38.505-04:00How fun to see parrots like that.
